People do not just give away Ipads or Iphones for nothing. You cannot win a lottery without entering one. All those lucrative posts on your wall or tweets addressed to you are a hoax.

Facebook and Twitter have been overrun by spam and scams for the last few months. The jury is still out as to whether malware and/or viruses are also being spread through these messages. Some are saying that many of these are coming in through third-party apps.

Social networking spam is spam directed at users of internet social networking services such as MySpace, Facebook or Twitter. Users of social networking services can send notes, that may include embedded links to other social network locations or even outside sites, to one another.

There are some, who just in one look, can tell whether a post is a genuine one or spam. But then there are people who just can’t stop clicking those links that keep spreading the spam. In any case, most of us never bother to “flag” such content. It’s vital to report such content to the website in order to help stop this (and hopefully further) spam. This campaign is aimed at urging people to 1) not fall for such spam content. 2) report all such content to the respective website. Because as we say, Kar Bhala to ho Bhala.
All those who either ‘naively’ fall for social spam (or who desperately want a free Ipad/Iphone)
“Flag It! Don’t Fall for It” is aimed at reducing both the vulnerability of users and spread of social spam by reporting all suspicious content on Facebook/Twitter. Facebook : Report the post to Facebook. If the post looks like it came from a friend, report the post to the friend and advise them to also report it to Facebook. How to report scam/spam posts: • Hover your cursor over the top right corner of the post • A drop down box will appear. Click “Report story or spam.” This will delete the post from your wall. • Another box will pop up. The sentence “If the story is abusive, please file a report.” will appear as a link. Click the link. • A box will pop up with several options; click the one that says “Report as spam/scam”. There is also an option to choose if you believe your friend’s account has been hacked. Twitter : If you think you’ve found a spam profile, follow these steps to report it to us: • Visit the Spam account’s profile • Click the person icon. This brings up a drop-down Actions menu. • Click on “Report @username for spam”
